M-E Rangers Game Highlights


M-E Rangers - 16     M-E Mets - 3
Rangers top Mets - The Rangers pounded out 12 hits on Mothers' day to take the pre-season opener for both teams. Tommy Harris and Tim Miller pitched very well for the Rangers, and were supported by four players with multi-hit games.

M-E Rangers - 6     M-E NL1 - 2
Rangers use long ball to sink Pirates - In a well pitched game by both sides, the Rangers rode home runs by Phil Lupo (2 HR, 5 RBI) and Matt Adams to top the Pirates 6-2. Adams got the win with David Maione contributing the save. Mike Meleski and Joe Heckel both pitched very effectively for the Pirates and each hit safely on the offensive side.

M-E Rangers - 6     M-E Yankees - 3
Rangers edge Yankees - In a well played ballgame, the Rangers outlasted the Yankees in an exhibition game. Matt Whitney had 2 hits and scored 3 runs, and T-Bone Harris added 2 more hits for the Rangers. The Yankees were led by David Bohunicky, who went 2-for-2 and made a spectacular diving catch in center field.

Rangers outslug West Corners - The Rangers used solid hitting throughout the lineup to win an offensive showdown with West Corners' independent league team. Several Rangers achieved multi-hit games, led by Tim Miller and Phil Lupo with 3 hits apiece. Lupo (grand slam) and David Maione blasted home runs in the contest. West Corners was led by Josh Rembecki, who went 2-for-3 with a solo home run.

Solid pitching and defence carries ME Yanks past the ME Rangers -

Solid pitching and defence leads ME Yanks past ME Rangers (Independant league) - Landyn Traffas took the mound and pitched a brilliant game for the Yanks Thursday nite at Struble Field. He threw a complete game and scattered six hits with 8K,s to record the victory. After scoring 5 runs in the second inning the Yankees never looked back. The Yanks defence was equally superb, recording two rundown outs as runners were trying to steal from first to second. Davey Voorhees made a spectacular catch of a foul ball pop up stretching completely over the fence almost upending himself for an out in the fifth. For the Yanks Traffas went 2 for 3, Sinicki 1 for 2 (double), D.Bohuicky 2 for 3, Smith 2 for 3 (double), Rueckle 2 for 3. Rangers were led by Lupo's towering HR in the sixth. Mr. Sbarra made a fine diving catch of a hard hit line drive at second base to record an out.
