Behind solid pitching by Mike Meleski, Bryan Landon, Bobby Gorham and Joe Heckel, the pirates pounded out 23 hits to win their first game. Tyshawn Sobers went 5 for 5 with 2 HR, a 2B and 6 RBI. Dan Holmes added a three run HR in the third and Bobby Gorham hit a grand slam in the fourth inning.
